Sufism – Tasawwuf

(Islamic spirituality)

Sufism is not a separate sect outside Islam, it is the heart of Islam itself. Other words for sufism is Islamic spirituality, Tasawwuf  (science of the Heart).  Sufism stand for spirituality, the word sufism is derived from the word Ahl al suffa (people of the bench), poor who practiced asceticism, or zuhd and lived in the mosque in Medina at the time of the Prophet Muhammad(Pbuh) .

Narrated Abu ‘Uthman:

‘Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr said, “The Suffa Companions were poor people and the Prophet said, ‘Whoever has food for two persons should take a third one from them (Suffa companions). Sufism has his own spiritual schools within Islam just like we have the school of sunni laws , we also have sectors within spirituality which is guided by a spiritual guide.
